Our Philosophy

a.d. ArizaDo is an Architectural design firm dedicated to creating functional, sustainable buildings, interiors and environments that have the ability to stand the test of time, while enhancing the experience of those exposed to their uses. Founded in 1999, under the philosophy that our clients’ business goals and objectives are the first and most important step in our business relationships, we position our firm as an integrated member of the Client’s team and organization. Our team focuses on creating an end product that helps exceed those goals and objectives.

To know architecture is to know life”.

Chris Cooper

AIA, Founder and Principal

Chris founded a.d. ArizaDo in 1999. Since then, he and his team have been offering clients a diverse range of designs that find their source in Chris’s upbringing.

When he was a boy, Chris and his family lived on and traveled across three continents. He was exposed to a wide array of architecture from ancient, classical, medieval, and renaissance Europe to the prehistorical ruins and grandiose modern structures springing from the landscapes of Central and South America. After returning to the United States, Chris lived in the Midwest during a time when its steel towns were undergoing dramatic deconstruction. He witnessed firsthand how once useful structures were abandoned and reduced to empty shells.

Observing the fascinating variation in architecture among different cultures confirmed what Chris had known all his life—he was going to be an architect. He studied architecture at Ohio State University and at Cal Poly Pomona before starting his architectural career in Los Angeles. After working for several L.A. design firms, Chris left the West Coast and opened a.d. ArizaDo in Denver, Colorado.

Today, Chris’s firsthand observations of HOW ARCHITECTURE ACROSS THE GLOBE REFLECTS THE RISE AND FALL AND EVENTUAL REBIRTH OF SOCIETIES, strongly influence his perception of space and movement and the importance of how they work together. His broad understanding of the many styles in which humans construct their dwellings guides his firm’s vision. It is a.d. ArizaDo’s mandate to provide clients with beauty, comfort, and practicality in renewable forms that will house humanity far into the future through thoughtful and well-designed living.
